What should we name him? Nungra Ned...
He's been roaming the Scenic Rim long before caravans, campfires, and servo pies.
Locals reckon he’s the first creature to ever hang a bag of beef strips from a gum branch to dry — making him the unofficial inventor of jerky.
Rumour has it, he refuses to eat anything that isn’t 100% Aussie, grass-fed, and high in protein. One Trekker saw him turn down a sausage roll because it “didn’t have enough chew".
He’s got a nose like no other — they say he can pick up the scent of an open bag from 3 kilometres away, give or take the wind. When that smell hits, he bolts through the bush like a Brisbane Broncos fullback in a grand final. A few locals even swear they’ve heard low, satisfied grunts echoing through the trees after someone’s opened a fresh pack of Honey Habanero.
He’s wild, proud, unpredictable, and always hungry — just like us.
And if there’s one thing he’s taught us, it’s that great jerky deserves a great story.
