Meet the Founder: Why Every Bag of Nungra Nibbles Starts with an Obsession for Better Beef Jerky
By Brett Littlemore
Founder & Co-Owner, Nungra Nibbles
If you've ever wondered why our jerky tastes different, why we've won multiple national awards, or why we spend so much time talking about Australian beef, you're in the right place.
I'm Brett, co-owner of Nungra Nibbles, and this isn't a business that started because we wanted to sell snacks.
It started because we believed Australia deserved better beef jerky.
From an Idea to an Award-Winning Brand
Like many Australians, I'd tried plenty of jerky over the years.
Some was too tough.
Some was too salty.
Some tasted like it had more preservatives than beef.
I kept thinking...
Surely we can do better than this.
That simple idea became an obsession.
Together with my wife Eve, we spent countless hours refining recipes, experimenting with different cuts of beef, seasoning blends, drying techniques and flavour combinations until every bag was something we'd be proud to eat ourselves.
Today, every Nungra Nibbles product is still developed with exactly that mindset.
Would we happily serve this to our own family?
If the answer isn't yes, it doesn't make it into a bag.
Why We Only Use Australian Beef
Australia produces some of the best beef in the world.
We're fortunate to have access to premium Australian grass-fed beef, and that's exactly what goes into our jerky.
We never wanted to cut corners by using imported meat.
Supporting Australian farmers has always been part of who we are.
It's better for quality.
It's better for consistency.
And it's something we're incredibly proud of.
Every Flavour Is Developed from Scratch
People often assume flavours come from a catalogue.
They don't.
Every flavour starts with an idea.
Sometimes it's inspired by a barbecue.
Sometimes it's a favourite meal.
Sometimes it's simply asking:
"What would make me reach back into the bag for another piece?"
That process has produced flavours including:
- Garlic Pepper
- Hickory Brown Sugar
- Honey Habanero
- Jalapeño & Lime
- Teriyaki
- Salt & Vinegar
- Lemon Lime Pepper
- Sesame BBQ
Each recipe goes through multiple rounds of tasting before we ever consider releasing it.
Awards Are Nice...But They're Not the Goal
Winning awards is incredibly rewarding because they're judged blind by industry professionals.
We're proud to have won multiple medals at prestigious Australian competitions, including Gold, Silver and Bronze awards for several of our products.
Those awards tell us we're on the right track.
But they aren't why we do this.
The real reward is hearing customers tell us:
"This is the best jerky I've ever eaten."
That's what keeps us going.
More Than Just Jerky
As the business has grown, we've expanded into premium biltong, flavoured macadamias, dried mango and innovative snack combinations like Crunchew.
Every new product follows the same philosophy:
- Premium ingredients
- Australian quality
- Great flavour
- Honest value
If it doesn't meet those standards, it doesn't wear the Nungra Nibbles name.
Building Nungra Nibbles One Customer at a Time
We're still a small family business.
Every order genuinely means something to us.
Every review gets read.
Every new stockist is celebrated.
Every market day is another opportunity to meet customers face-to-face and hear what they love—and what we can do even better.
That feedback shapes the products we make.

Thank You
If you've purchased from us before...
Thank you.
If you've recommended us to a mate...
Thank you.
If you've left a review...
Thank you.
Small businesses are built on loyal customers, and we're incredibly grateful for every one of you.
We can't wait to keep developing new flavours, winning more awards, and sharing Australia's best snacks with even more people.
See you soon.
